I am currently working as a cytogenetics lab specialist in Al borg medical laboratories in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Previously I was the molecular diagnostics, histocompatibility and flow cytometry lab Supervisor in Al Borg Medical Laboratories; my current responsibilities include methods development, validation/ verification and also suggestion new services and products. I am also responsible for verifying and reviewing both molecular diagnostics (Molecular Microbiology and Molecular Pathology), reviewing quality control indicators, creating QC reports and charts, endorsing safety regulations, supervising the technical staff, inventory management, creating, developing and maintaining documentation for CAP and JCI inspections; participate in CAP and JCI inspections and training of new technical staff.
I received an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry/Chemistry 2008 from Alexandria University. I received an M.Sc. degree in clinical molecular oncology from the faculty of science, Alexandria University.
Currently, I am registered for a Ph.D. degree in Ain Shams University (Thesis title: Evaluation of the diagnostic utility of plasma methylated DNAs as biomarkers for colorectal cancer)
I have received two travel grants from the American Association of clinical chemistry (AACC) 2015 and 2016 to attend the AACC annual meeting. I have received both the molecular Division and distinguished Abstract awards during 2017 AACC annual meeting. Also, I have received another travel grant from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) to attend their 2018 annual meeting in Baltimore, MD.
I am Certified as a cytogenetics, molecular pathology and flow cytometry CAP inspector. Licensed as a biochemistry specialist by Saudi commission for health specialties. I am also certified as medical laboratory scientist MLS(ASCP), international molecular biology technologist MB(ASCPi) and international cytogenetics technologist CG(ASCPi).
