Announcements List

  • LDC let’s get together!

Hi team this is a email I sent out July 6th, 2026. I am posting it here to ensure that you didn’t miss it. Within a week I will be posting our first meeting date. Please read my previous letter to you and do the survey. I’d like to find a time that works for most.

    Sent: Monday, July 6, 2026
Top of the day to all of you. My name is Nickola Chin and I have been appointed to be the LDC chair this year (2026-2027). First, I would like to thank you each for choosing to serve and being a part of this committee. I am currently living in Idaho and have been here for approximately 18 years. I currently work for the St. Luke's Health System (St. Luke's Regional Medical Center) in Nampa, Idaho. I recently moved from Twin Falls; Idaho, and I am very glad to be back in the Treasure Valley. I have been in healthcare for 24 years, previously working as a medical assistant who went back to school and got her MLS. I loved working on the bench (academia, work study, research) and wanted to utilize my MA knowledge. So, I was looking for a profession that was all encompassing of my skills and decided to become an MLS.
This email is only intended to say hi, and welcome you to the committee. I am unaware of our charges as yet, nor do I know who our liaison will be. Lastly, the magical book of information from the past chair to the current chair will also occur. Once we have those parts and pieces, we can start collaborating as a committee. Stacey Robinson will be reaching out to me and then I will get the ball rolling. Many ASCLS members take July as a "summer break" month. Things go dead for a minute and then it picks back up. Until then, would you please take a moment to do this survey below?
Most of us in this email have been appointed to this committee. However, if you know someone who would be a great addition, they can join our meetings as an observer and can give meaningful contribution. They are welcome to attend.
I am not one who believes that is how it has as always been done, and so this is how we are to do it. Personally, I have a very innovative mind. Even if something has been tried in the past, doesn't mean it won't work now. We have to have a forward-thinking mind. I honor and appreciate the expertise and knowledge of those who have "gone before us" , but I don't want that to negate fresh ideas or creative ways of doing things. With that said, I don't like negativity. I like solutions, ideas, leaping into the unknown, and seeing what comes of it. Instead of we did that before and it didn't work, let us try with: we did this before and I think a way of achieving our goal is... This takes us out of the negative and propels us into a positive frame-of-mind of solutions. Let this be a place where we build each other up and support each other's ideas.
I look forward to getting to know each of you more and the potential of what we can do this year.
You can reach me at (208)899-6524. Email: NickolaChin@outlook.com or aasclsidaho@gmail.com (the 2nd one will be my designated LDC email)
    With much love,
    Your LDC Chair, Nickola Chin
