DAC Book Club
The DAC Book Club is a space to explore and share books that can help us grow our knowledge and appreciation for diverse perspectives. Uncomfortable, challenging, and real stories that can help us all move forward in our DEIB journey. This book club started in 2021 in alignment with the PRISM (Pride, Respect, Inclusion, Support, Momentum) event. We strive to provide a space for members of the ASCLS community to increase their understanding and leadership on DEIB through thoughtful discussion, honest curiosity, and an authentic desire for growth.
Previous years books include:
- "Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents" by Isabel Wilkerson.
- "Demanding More: Why Diversity and Inclusion Don't Happen and What You Can Do About it" by Sheree Atcheson
- "Sitting Pretty: The View from My Ordinary Resilient Disabled Body" by Rebekah Taussig
- "The Diversity Gap: Where Good Intentions Meet True Cultural Change" by Bethaney Wilkinson
- "Dismissed: Tackling the Biases That Undermine our Health Care" by Angela Marshall and Kathy Palokoff
This book club meets asynchronously using the BOOKCLUBS app. The new book for the year is revealed during the JAM DAC annual meeting and we encourage all to have read it my January in time for PRISM.
