Scholarships

Two $1,000.00 undergraduate scholarships shall be awarded to ASCLS-NY student members: one to a Baccalaureate degree (4 year) or post-baccalaureate advanced certificate student and one to a community college Associate Degree (2 year) student. In the absence of a qualified applicant for one category, two scholarships may be awarded in the same category.

One graduate scholarship of $1,500 will be awarded to a graduate student to further their career options.


Qualifications for undergraduate scholarships
Applicant:
  1. Must have a real need of financial assistance.
  2. Must show an interest in the profession of Clinical Laboratory Science.
  3. Must have maintained a good scholastic average.
  4. Must meet one of the following:
    • will be entering the fourth year of an accredited baccalaureate MT/CLS program
    • will be entering an accredited hospital-based MT/CLS program as part of a baccalaureate degree
    • will be entering an accredited post-baccalaureate MT/CLS advanced certificate program
    • will be entering the second year of an accredited Junior/Community College CLT/MLT program
  5. Must be a resident of New York State and use the scholarship in NYS.
  6. Must be a Developing member of ASCLS since prior to December 31st.

Qualifications for graduate scholarships:
Applicant:
  1. Has been a  member of ASCLS-NY for 3 years
  2. Is a resident of New York State and will use the scholarship in New York State
  3. Has been accepted into a program with a major in Clinical Laboratory Science or related area such as MBA in Hospital Administration, MS in Clinical Laboratory Science or a specialty of CLS, MPH, DCLS, Ph.D. in a related area, or Ed.D. in Higher or Adult Education
  4. Shows a genuine interest in the profession of Clinical Laboratory Science
  5. Desires to achieve a higher level position in the field of Clinical Laboratory Science

General Information:
  1. ASCLS-NY Developing members will be notified via email when undergraduate applications are available, typically in February.
  2. All ASCLS-NY members will be notified via email when graduate scholarship applications are available, typically in February or March.
  3. Application deadline is in April for undergraduate scholarships and May for graduate scholarship. Actual dates vary year to year - see annual call for applications.  Applications are submitted electronically.
  4. Scholarship applications are evaluated by the ASCLS-NY Scholarship Committee.
  5. Scholarships will be awarded at the Annual Spring Seminar.
  6. Payment by September 1st.
